A lighter image. Three simple steps.
Choose your image
Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP file, or browse from your device.
Set your size limit
Start with 50 KB, or enter the maximum your form allows.
Compress & download
Check the measured file size and save your finished image.
What does a 50KB limit mean?
This page starts with a maximum of 51,200 bytes (50 × 1,024). The 50 KB preset offers a starting point for compact photos and small web graphics. The target is an upper limit, not an exact file size. You can change it without leaving this page.
The compressor checks actual encoded bytes while adjusting quality. If necessary, it reduces dimensions while keeping the image's proportions. Review the preview and dimensions before using the file. Very small targets can noticeably reduce detail.
Photos use JPEG or WebP where supported. Transparency is preserved with WebP or PNG; transparent pixels are never flattened onto a background. Originals already within the limit are offered unchanged. Re-encoding removes metadata and animation; unchanged originals retain both.
Good to know
Will my image be exactly 50KB?
No. A successful result is 50KB or less at the preset, verified using the file's actual byte size. If you change the target, the new limit applies. KB on this tool means 1,024 bytes; if a form uses 1,000 bytes per KB, choose a slightly lower target.
Can I keep the same dimensions at 50KB?
Sometimes. The tool searches image quality first. Tight limits may require smaller dimensions, especially for detailed photographs. Working images are limited to 12 megapixels and a 4,096-pixel longest edge to control memory use.
Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool decodes and compresses images locally. This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for website statistics. Image compression stays on your device. Advertising banners load third-party scripts, which may make their own network requests. The compression tool does not send them your images or filenames.
What if a file cannot meet the limit?
The tool reports the problem and does not offer an oversized result as a successful download. Try a larger target. Inputs are limited to 25 MB and 40 megapixels, with no edge above 16,384 pixels. Corrupt files and browser decoding or encoding limits can also prevent processing.
